Description: The water quality standards regulation requires that States and authorized Indian Tribes specify the appropriate classification or designated use(s) for all surface waters. In order to achieve and protect the uses of the waters, water quality criteria are established. The State of Mississippi classifies surface waters by taking into consideration the use and value of the water body for public water supply, protection of human health, fish, shellfish, and wildlife, and for recreational uses. The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality makes no warranties, expressed or implied, as to the accuracy, completeness, currentness, reliability, or suitability for any particular purpose of the data contained here in.
